Talk:The Box
From AntiquistWiki
What's in a name? Everything says I. Before anyone else says it. Lets think outside. We are about free exchange, data flow , Freeflow?
How about Archaeological Repository Kernel (ARK)?
As well as the obvious phonetic parallels with archaeology and vector data, it also signifies a repository of ancient knowledge and is derived from the latin 'arca': chest. And of course it has the further benefit of being a "radio for talking to God"... ;-)
(oops - sorry L-P guys - Chris just reminded me that you've got to this one first)
Yeah you can't have ARK! Great name tho!
Categories
It is possible to structure the wiki using page categories. Like The_Box:data_sources. I'll check how that's done and we can decide if we think its useful. Meanwhile just for my own horrification I am compiling a data sources list - data sources
Have a look at the categories linked from the main page - you can categorise things as you like :-) --Tom Goskar 08:32, 26 September 2006 (PDT)
I like The Box (think outside of the black...) - consider that a vote "aye".
And do we what to specifically limit the SDI development to archaeologists or are we going to be more *open* than that?
I think it should be open to all - after all there's a lot more people out there getting into spatial data (e.g OpenStreetMap) --Tom Goskar 08:32, 26 September 2006 (PDT)
